Confirm the entry point
Decide where the fibre will enter the building. Engineers need a clear external route to the wall and a tidy internal path to your router location.
Router location
Pick a spot with power, ventilation and Ethernet cable runs to your switch. Placing the router in a locked comms cupboard is fine as long as the engineer can reach it.
Access and permissions
For leased premises, get written landlord permission before the install date — engineers will not drill without it.
Failover and cutover
Keep the existing line active for 7–14 days after the new fibre goes in. Migrate services (VoIP, VPN, cloud PBX) one at a time to confirm stability.
